When I saw this story I couldn't believe that it was true. I'm all for the to bear arms ( the right to arm bears, that's a different story...) but is it a smart idea to have a gun on-board the International Space Station? I understand that it's for crash landings but I can only think of a few places in the world that a Russian Cosmonaut would need a gun if they landed in. Iraq, Chechnya and maybe North Korea are the only ones that come to mind. Just imaging if some astronaut/cosmonaut snapped and started shooting up the ISS. Wouldn't they be better off leaving the gun back home in the motherland?
